• Sono stata proposta per il ruolo [di Lara Croft] dal mio agente perché ero l'unica ginnasta in lista, quindi sono andata all'audizione con centinaia di altre ragazze speranzose. C'erano un'acrobata del circo, una kick boxer, un'esperta di arti marziali, ballerine e stuntwoman ed eravamo tutte lì con i nostri abiti di Lara fatti in casa. Ho fatto il mio provino e sono stata richiamata per l'audizione successiva. Questa volta ho potuto provare il costume vero e proprio di Lara, fare alcuni dei miei salti mortali all'indietro e delle verticali davanti ad alcuni addetti di Eidos Tomb Raider, e ho ottenuto il ruolo!

I was put up for the role by my agent as I was the only gymnast on the books so I went along to the audition with hundreds of other hopeful girls. There was a circus acrobat, a kick boxer, a martial arts expert, dancers and stunt performers and we were all there in our home made Lara outfits. I did my audition and then got a call back for the next round. This time I got to try on the actual Lara costume, do some of my back flips and hand stands in front of some of the Eidos Tomb Raider people, and I got the role!

• Quando è stato annunciato che sarei diventata Lara Croft, tutti hanno subito pensato che fossi solo una modella. In realtà sono un'attrice di professione, quindi vorrei che le persone fossero consapevoli del fatto che ho una formazione.

When it was announced that I was to become Lara Croft, everyone immediately assumed I was just a model. I'm actually a trained actress so I'd really like people to be aware of the fact I am trained.

• [La cosa più sorprendente che mi sia mai capitata è stata...] L'anno scorso, in Italia, dovevo fare una performance con i Negramaro, che sono una grande rock band. Mi è stato chiesto di calarmi dalla cima dello stadio e di atterrare in mezzo al pubblico. C'erano migliaia e migliaia di persone che guardavano e dopo la discesa dovevo ancora fare il mio numero di Lara Croft. È stata una bella sfida.

[The most surprising thing that ever happened to me was...] In Italy last year, I had to do a performance with Negramaro which is a big rock band over there. I was asked to abseil from the top of the stadium and land in the middle of the whole audience. There were thousands and thousands of people watching and after the abseil, I still had to do my Lara Croft routine. It was a bit of a challenge.

• Lara Croft non è brava in niente? Alison potrebbe esserlo, ma Lara Croft non lo è di certo.

Is Lara Croft bad at anything? Alison might be but Lara Croft certainly isn't.
