I think it's hugely important, you know there are so many kinds of record deals and I was always really aware that I would never be happy if I ever signed one where I had to change who I fundamentally am or the music that I make. So finding people who would let me keep my second name and let me wear the clothes I wanted to wear and play the songs that I had written at home, that was quite a rare thing. I have so much gratitude for the fact that I found a team really understand and supports me for who I actually in my most raw and authentic way.

School really does not define who you are as a human being...The things that you think of as weaknesses now will one day by your biggest strengths. Also...being dyslexic gives you the ability to see things from another perspective and that's one of your best qualities. The biggest lesson I learned is that everyone is battling with something growing up and just to be as kind and understanding as possible.

Ma non è vero. Sono stata molto fortunata ad essere cresciuta ed essere sostenuta da una famiglia che mi vedeva prima come musicista/autrice, non come una ragazza. Quindi ho iniziato con quella mentalità, non avevo davvero capito che queste cose esistono.

I love I get the opportunity to do this and show other young girls that you can write your own songs, I got told for a long time that the only songs that would ever do well are ones I have to write with men double my age. But that's not true. I was so lucky to be raised and championed by a family that would see me as a musician/writer first, not a girl. So I went in with that mentality, I didn't really understand that these things exist.
