Prima di far scorrere le dita sulle note, naturalmente, prima di fare qualsiasi cosa, devi avere la musica nell'anima. Se dovessi dare un consiglio ai futuri thereministi, direi "meno è più." Non potete trattare l'aria con i martelli, dovete far uso di movimenti delicati, dovete suonare con ali di farfalla; la precisione è molto più importante della forza. Dovete anche avere coraggio. Suonare il theremin è come essere un trapezista senza la rete. Non sai se atterrerai correttamente o no, ma corri il rischio e salti, non solo per arrivare alla nota giusta, ma per prendere il centro della nota, in questo modo sarai intonato.

Before you finger the notes, of course, before you do anything, you have to have music in your soul. If I had to give advice to future thereminists, I'd say "less is more." You cannot treat air with hammers, you have to use delicate motions, you have to play with butterfly wings; precision is much more important than strength. You also have to have courage. Playing the theremin is like being a trapeze artist without a net. You don't know if you'll land correctly or not, but you take a risk and you jump, not only to arrive at the right note, but to hit the middle of the note, so you'll be in tune.^[1]
