• Scegliete la vita; scegliete un lavoro; scegliete una carriera; scegliete un maledetto televisore a schermo gigante; scegliete lavatrici, automobili, lettori CD e apriscatole elettrici; scegliete di sedervi su un divano a spappolarvi il cervello e ad annientarvi lo spirito davanti a un telequiz. E alla fine scegliete di marcire; di tirare le cuoia in un ospizio schifoso, appena un motivo d'imbarazzo per gli idioti viziati ed egoisti che avete figliato per rimpiazzarvi. Scegliete il futuro; scegliete la vita. Ma perché mai dovrei fare una cosa del genere? Ho scelto di non scegliere la vita: scelgo qualcos'altro. Il motivo? Non c'è un motivo. Chi ha bisogno di un motivo quando ha l'eroina?

Choose life; choose a job; choose a career; choose a family; choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disk players and electrical tin openers; Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance; choose fixed-interest mortgage repayments; choose a starter home; choose your friends; choose DIY and wondering who the fuck u are on sunday morning; choose sitting on the coach watching mind numbing , spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing junk food into your mouth; choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in amiserable home nothing more than an embarassement to the selfish, fucked-up brats you spawned to replace yourself; choose your future; choose life. But why would i want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?

• Relinquishing junk. Stage one, preparation. For this you will need one room which you will not leave. Soothing music. Tomato soup, ten tins of. Mushroom soup, eight tins of, for consumption cold. Ice cream, vanilla, one large tub of. Magnesia, milk of, one bottle. Paracetomal, mouthwash, vitamins. Mineral water, Lucozade, pornography. One mattress. One bucket for urine, one for feces and one for vomitus. One television and one bottle of Valium. Which I've already procured from my mother. Who is, in her own domestic and socially acceptable way also a drug addict. And now I'm ready. All I need is one final hit to soothe the pain while the Valium takes effect.
